Facilities
- The Remote Sensing Institute features an outstanding array of
computational centers designed to facilitate data storage, processing,
and analysis for a variety of applications. Through a Center of
Excellence grant from NASA and matching funds from the Dow Corporation,
we have created both undergraduate and graduate research and teaching
laboratories. These new labs are equipped with top-of-the-line
Sun workstations and PC's.
Our facilities include:
Computer Classroom/Laboratories (708 and 709 Dow Building)
- These two 25-seat undergraduate labs are staffed with Sun
Ultra10 and Ultra60 workstations with 21" monitors.
Imaging and Analysis Lab (312 Dow)
- This is a high end, graduate research lab (6 seats), with
Sun Ultra10 and Ultra 60 workstations with 21" monitors.
Multimedia Laboratory (513 Dow)
- This lab is capable of handling all of our advanced graphics
needs, with a Sun Ultra10 workstation, plotters, printers, scanner
and tape storage devices.
Flex Graduate Research (mobile machines)
- Four Sun Ultra10 workstations, 21" monitors, designed to
accomodate a variety of research needs.
Remote Sensing/GIS Lab (Forestry)
- This new laboratory in the School of Forestry and Wood Products
is designed for environmental research and training in image processing
and GIS techniques, and is staffed with ten Pentium PC's with
17" monitors.
Image Processing/GIS Lab (Forestry)
- This is a graduate level facility for
advanced data and image processing, staffed with digitizing tablets,
and five Sun workstations.
