RSI provides several forms of internal research and graduate support, for the following reasons:
  • to foster the development and expansion of interdisciplinary and cross-departmental research at Michigan Tech;
  • to create a more stimulating and active graduate program; and
  • to accelerate the development of new RSI-affiliated research foci and groups.

These emphases are driven by the mission and objectives described in the RSI Charter (PDF File)

A wide range of research activities fall within RSI's scope - not just remote sensing. To find out whether your research can be affiliated with RSI, see the RSI Affiliation section.

Descriptions and directions for applying for RSI's internal grants are provided in the following links. Together, these internal grants account for about 50% of RSI's planned expenditures. They are the primary mechanism by which RSI seeks to enhance research activities at Michigan Tech, and expenditures on these grants will increase as RSI-affiliated research activity grows. (For further details on RSI's planned expenditures, see RSI's budget plans.)
