Purpose.
To assist RSI-affiliated PIs in meeting agency cost-share
requirements or improve funding probability.
(RSI cost-share should not be used to reduce proposal budgets by an
amount equal to the RSI incentive return - that would eliminate
the funding to RSI used to support the general RSI internal
grants program and other activities.)
Who is eligible. RSI
members
submitting RSI-affiliated
proposals. It is expected that cost-share will be requested
only when needed, and not to reduce budget totals
in all proposals submitted.
Application Procedure.
Requests should be documented using the
RSI Grant
Request
form sent to the RSI Coordinator (L. Zelazny, Biology Dept),
but may be initiated by phone or email to the RSI Director.
The following information will be required:
Project title and overview, with enough information that it
can be determined that the project falls within RSI's
scope.
Cost-share amount requested from RSI, and
amounts requested from other MTU sources, by project year.
Expected Funding. Typically RSI contributes to
cost-share that is obtained from multiple sources, with the
RSI contribution typically $1,000 to $2,000. Significantly
higher cost-share contributions are possible in some cases.
(Please refer to RSI's overall
budget plans for an estimate of
the total amount to be awarded this year.)
Timeline
Requests will be responded to as quickly as possible. However,
please request cost-share as early in the proposal development
process as possible, because the RSI director may be unavailable
at times.
